SharePoint Saturday Atlanta 2011

Slalom Consultant Brendon Schwartz

Brendon Schwartz is a Slalom Principal Consultant based in Atlanta who specializes in SharePoint, social computing, and collaboration. He's a published author, and seasoned conference speaker.

Please join myself and three of my colleagues who will be presenting at SharePoint Saturday Atlanta on Saturday, May 7, 2011 (click here to register). It’s free and open to everyone with an interest in SharePoint.  Part of being a Slalom Consultant is giving back and our entire team hopes you will join us at local community events like these.

Here are the topics we are going to be discussing:

  • SharePoint 2010 Content Sizing and Planning
  • Win the Project: the ROI of SharePoint
  • Leveraging Sandbox Solutions for Fame and Fortune
  • Add InfoPath to your recipe book

My session is going to cover SharePoint 2010 Content Sizing and Planning. I’ll be looking at the different scenarios that many enterprise companies face when setting up a SharePoint 2010 solution.  I will cover some SharePoint scenarios  and look at how to make good planning choices when planning your content databases and what size you can expect.  This “how to” presentation will look at central administration, site quotas, and use planning spreadsheets to determine how to build your solution.

Slalom Consultant Matt Ranlett

Matt Ranlett is Slalom's Digital Commerce Practice Lead in Atlanta. He is a six time Microsoft MVP, including four years as a SharePoint Server MVP, and a published author and editor.

After walking away from this presentation you will be able to size SharePoint 2010 content on different scenarios.

Matt Ranlett will be presenting a special interest session entitled “Win the Project: the ROI of SharePoint”. Matt describes his session as follows: “This presentation will focus on helping you sell SharePoint into your target organization, whether you are already inside or are outside as a consultant. We will cover some approaches to defining and measuring ROI metrics, presentation and project approaches, and some underlying sales theories. Take what you learn here and go win that project!

Scott Abelmann is a technology services consultant at Slalom Consulting. His primary duties include architecting and developing customer solutions based on SharePoint and .NET technologies. He has worked in professional services for the past ten years and focused heavily on SharePoint for the last five.

Slalom Consultant Dan Keeling

Dan Keeling is Slalom's Practice Area Lead for Portals and Collaboration in Atlanta focused on delivering SharePoint best practices and governance, workflow, and other custom applications within SharePoint.

Scott’s session will be entitled “Leveraging Sandbox Solutions for Fame and Fortune.” He describes it as follows: “What are Sandbox Solutions in SharePoint 2010 and why should we think about using them?  In what ways can they make our lives easier as SharePoint developers, why do our SharePoint Administrator friends find them appealing and how can they be leveraged in the real world?  In this presentation, we’ll explore these questions and more as well as circumstances where Sandbox Solutions may not be the right approach.”

Last but not least, Dan Keeling’s presentation will be entitled “Add InfoPath to your recipe book.” He describes it as follows: “Leverage InfoPath within SharePoint to spice up sites and workflows. Learn about new list edit forms as well traditional forms with new features.  Connect to external data sources and parse InfoPath in XML.”

More about the event, including registration (remember, it’s free), time, location, and additional speakers, can be found on the SharePoint Saturday Atlanta web site.

We hope to see you there!
