Pro tips for making the most of IWNY with mobile

Internet Week New York (IWNY) is the largest Internet festival in the world. The event’s hub—IWNY HQ in Silicon Alley—will attract some 10,000 attendees between May 20 and 23.

It’s exciting to be in the tech hub of New York City at Internet Week, where tomorrow’s trends are being formed today. The successful start-ups in media and technology are shaping the way our clients will better connect with their customers, partners, and employees, and the tech-elite are all here during the festival to share their experiences.

It’s Slalom’s second year partnering with the festival. Last year we built the official event app, and this year, as IWNY’s official mobile app partner, we made some updates to the app that we’re really proud of.

For those attending the festival, I pulled together some pro tips for making the most of Internet Week NY with the app:

  • Play favorites. The festival has an amazing line-up of sessions and speakers. Make sure you make it to all your must-see sessions by flagging them as favorites.
  • Leave your business cards at home. I’m especially excited about a new feature that we’re calling the un-business card. With this app, you can easily share your info by sucking a vCard directly into your contacts using your own customized QR code. (Don’t worry, we also built a QR code reader directly into the app.)  This is one of the most helpful QR use cases that I’ve seen, and I think attendees will love how easy it is to exchange info with new contacts.
  • Get social … without leaving the app. If you’re like me, connecting in real-time via Twitter with festival-goers, presenters, and sponsors really takes an event to the next level. The News section of the app aggregates all tweets with the #IWNY hashtag, and you can tweet about sessions and other festival events directly from the app.
  • Multitask like a boss. As I mentioned, the festival’s schedule is packed with great content, so you’re bound to run into some scheduling conflicts. That’s why we included live-stream video coverage and archived panel footage.

The app is easy to use from the start, and 30 seconds after you download it, you’re ready to get in on the action. Give it a try! Download the IWNY app for iOS from visit the Apple App Store.
